Introduction
Your privacy matters to us. This Privacy Policy explains what information ZOVA (“we”, “us”) collects, how we use and share it, and the choices you have. It applies to the ZOVA app, website, and related services (the “Service”).
By using ZOVA you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1. Information We Collect
We collect information to run a safe, useful dating service:
- Account information — your name, age/date of birth, gender, phone number or email, and how you signed in (Google or phone).
- Profile content — photos, bio, interests, languages, and other details you choose to add.
- Location — your approximate or precise location (with your permission) so we can show you nearby people and distances. You can turn this off in your device settings.
- Messages & activity — the messages, likes, matches, and content you send through the Service, plus how you use the app (screens viewed, features used).
- Device & technical data — device model, operating system, app version, language, and diagnostic/crash data.
- Purchase data — records of subscriptions and in-app purchases. Card/payment details are handled by Google Play or the App Store, not by ZOVA.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To create your profile and show you potential matches.
- To enable likes, matches, and messaging between users.
- To keep ZOVA safe — detecting fraud, spam, fake profiles, and abuse, and enforcing our Terms.
- To process subscriptions and in-app purchases.
- To provide customer support and respond to your requests.
- To send you service notifications and, where you allow it, promotional messages.
- To comply with legal obligations and protect our users’ and our rights.
3. How We Share Your Information
We do NOT sell your personal information. We share it only in these limited ways:
- With other users — your profile (photos, name, age, bio, interests, distance) is visible to other users as part of the dating experience. Be mindful of what you choose to share.
- With service providers — trusted companies that help us operate, such as Google Firebase (authentication, database, storage, push notifications) and analytics providers, who may only process data on our instructions.
- For legal & safety reasons — to comply with the law, respond to lawful requests, or protect the safety, rights, and property of users, the public, or ZOVA.
- In a business transfer — if ZOVA is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that deal.
4. Cookies & Similar Technologies
On our website and PWA we use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, and understand how the Service is used. The mobile app uses equivalent local storage and device identifiers for the same purposes.
You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling them may affect some features such as staying logged in.
5. Data Retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we must keep certain records to comply with the law, resolve disputes, prevent fraud, or enforce our agreements.
6. Your Rights & Choices
Depending on where you live (for example, under GDPR or CCPA), you may have the right to:
- Access, correct, or update the information in your profile — most of this is editable directly in the app.
- Delete your account and associated personal data (Settings → Delete Account).
- Control location sharing and push notifications through your device and in-app settings.
- Request a copy of your data, or object to or restrict certain processing, by contacting us.
- Withdraw consent at any time, where processing is based on consent.
7. Security
We use technical and organizational measures — including encryption in transit, access controls, and app-integrity protections — to safeguard your information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we work hard to protect your data and to respond quickly to any incident.
8. Children’s Privacy
ZOVA is for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we learn that an underage person has created an account, we will remove it. If you believe a minor is using ZOVA, please contact us immediately.
9. International Data Transfers
Your information may be stored and processed in countries other than your own, including where our service providers operate. Where required, we put safeguards in place to protect your data when it is transferred internationally.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you in the app or by other reasonable means. The “Last updated” date above shows when this policy was last revised.
